Jam with Strings for Bach!
The Northport Symphony Orchestra and NYASTA, the New York chapter of the American String Teachers Association, cordially invite all interested string players to a free sight-reading session of music by J.S. Bach. What better way to celebrate the great master's 327th birthday, which takes place on March 21?

Date/time: Sunday, March 25, 2012 from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m.

Place: The community room of the Central Presbyterian Church, 240 Main Street, Huntington, NY 11743. Map

What you need to do:

  • Download here, print out and bring with you the music for your instrument.
  • Bring your instrument and your music stand. Cellists and bassists, please bring your rock stop or whatever you use to protect the floor.
  • There is a municipal parking lot immediately behind the church building. It is accessed from Elm Street.
  • Enter the community room through the door adjacent to the parking lot.
  • Tell your music friends. Make a day of it. Lots of nice places for brunch in Huntington.

See you there!

The Long Island Violin Shop, located directly across the municipal parking lot from the church community room, will host an open house with light refreshments immediately following the Bach sight-reading. Representatives of Thomastik-Infeld, makers of Dominant, Spirocore, Vision and other leading strings, will give a brief presentation, and a drawing will be held for LIVS gift certificates. We hope you will stop in!
